Miser Mom's Comprehensive Guide to Faith, Frugality, and Fun
We welcome Annalisa Crannell to our May Forum. And we welcome all Moms, Singles, Dads, and those enmeshed in a host of complicated relationships who daily deal with a common problem: Money.
- At The World Headquarters of the The Row House, Inc: 413 College Ave, Lancaster, PA, USA.
- 7:00 PM, May 19th
Annalisa Crannell is a PhD-wielding professor of mathematics at F&M, author of the personal finance blog MiserMom, and mother of a half-dozen children, mostly adopted.
Crannell is not actually a miser, but it's true that her annual shoe-and-clothing budget runs around $30. She has no paper towels in the house. Her family put only 11 trash cans at the curb in 2015. She carries her groceries home in a bicycle trailer. She wears edible deodorant. (Yea, we're wondering about that too).
We live in a world that thinks the proper thing to do is spend money on ourselves. But Crannell believes that we're happier if we spend our money on things that are bigger than us, things that are outside of us. It's a joy to be able to deny ourselves well, and this Row House discussion is about that joy.
