Never thought of patriotic posters as “propaganda?” I hate to break it to you, but….
Ned will toggle through a bunch of images from the USA’s history of political persuasion.
It’s We the People, people. So, in a way we made this stuff.
But what is it?
Is it good?
Is it true?
Is it pretty?
Is it embarrassing?
Is it art?
In case you’re wondering, no, this will not be a ponderous evening of pontificating. Rather, it’s gonna be fun.
Come to gawk, to learn, and to meet other brave souls willing to think hard about who we are and what America aspires to be.
Let’s have fun, drinks, and treats. Expect a tiny bit of patriotic bunting. That’s a thing this summer, right?
Edwin David Bustard is an illustrator, print maker, book publisher, and author who makes his home in Lancaster City. He is a graduate of Millersville University and is a seasonal professor of Graphic Design at Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, GA.
He’s an early co-conspirator with Tom Becker in founding The Row House, Inc. along with his wife Leslie. The Bustards share three grown daughters who are involved with making the world a better place through education, the performing arts, and church ministry.
Ned is currently best known for his three children’s books with IVPress and his woodcuts that grace the pages of the Every Moment Holy book series (with poet Doug McKelvey, Rabbit Room Press).
Ned loves English spy stuff, most things Marvel, 80s music, and a tall glass of sweet tea. His work companions are Pevensie and MillyMollyMandy. They’re dogs. He is a ruling elder at Wheatland Presbyterian Church.
