Practicing Vincibility, Part 2

Way back in October, our Curator and Founder Tom talked about one of his favorite things: Cars!

Despite how amazing cars are, he left us with the not-so-subtle impression that they have their dark sides. One of them is our tendency to rely on them way too much.

Tom talked briefly about some surprising reasons why walking is good for us, and he generally commended the spiritual virtue of embracing our bodily vulnerability.

Tom Has Friends?

Yes, and to ensure that he didn’t take up all the oxygen in the room, he invited two other participants:

  • Emily Nixon, a nurse studying to become a Nurse Practitioner, showed us slides from her Camino walk in Spain. Expect some reflections on spirituality, society, and scenery.

  • Laura Pauls-Thomas, a local transit advocate with a passion for bicycling, safety, and community, caught us up to speed on how our built environment is transforming into a shared space for all and how to take part.

Let’s Walk

An evening stroll to a local pub (with a bit of guidance from Tom and friends) capped off our evening conversation. For those who couldn’t join us, we still provided the expected sweets, savories, decaf, and sundry refreshments at the event.
